Kunanyi / Mount Wellington - Tasmania

When you visit Hobart, you must visit Kunanyi / Mount Wellington. This was our first stop straight from the airport and right then and there we knew our Tasmanian Road Trip was going to be spectacular.

How to get there:

The summit of Kunanyi / Mount Wellington is a 30min drive (21km) west of Hobart’s CBD (city centre).

Once there, you'll see the parking spaces and from there you can start your walk.

Beware, we went on April and it was *cold*, make sure you go prepared as not only it was colder than in Hobart but also very windy - but SO worth it.

Things to do:

Enjoy the views!

From Kunanyi / Mount Wellington you'll have wonderful views of Hobart and the Southern part of Tasmania. There are platforms and lookouts for better views, as well. If you get cold or simply need a rest, head to the pinnacle observation centre to have a sit and absorb all the information about this site. The centre is open 7am to 10am during the months of September to April and from 7am to 5:30pm from May to August.

Depending on when you go, you can also take your bike and cycle down the mountain and / or have fun in the snow!
