My husband and I spent 10 magical days in Fiji, and we loved every minute of this vacation 💛
Our Wanderlog looked like this, so we definitely jumped around a lot!
Flight itinerary
We flew to Nadi from Melbourne's airport, this was a 4h flight (5h on the way back).
We spent the first 3 days in Nadi (taking day trips), and the other 7 days we went to a resort to fully relax.
Hotels and resorts we stayed at (and how we got there):
We stayed in the 'Nalagi Hotel' in Nadia and the resort in 'Barefoot Kuata Resort' in Yasawa Island. We had a great stay in both hotels, but oh my god, was it an adventure to get to the resort (my fault!) Let me explain quickly what happened.
I was fully convinced that the boat that was taking us from Nadi to Yasawa Island was departing at 4pm, so the last day in Nadi, we had planned to not put the alarm to wake us up early, I also hadn't packed (again, because I was fully convinced our boat was in the afternoon), and we barely made it to breakfast. While we were having our breakfast, my husband asked the details for our 'afternoon' boat transfer, just to know where we had to go, etc. I kid you not, I almost had a panic attack when I opened my email and saw that the boat was departing in 40 minutes!! I got confused with the schedule to get there and our way back! The 4pm boat was from Yasawa back to Nadi (to go to the airport to come back home).
While I went back to the room to pack everything as fast as I could, my husband was with the amazing staff at the lobby trying to call the boat company and figure out if we could still make it on time or not. Ultimately, we didn't make it on time (not surprised tbh). We still went to the port (as per the hotel staff's suggestion), and we were recommended to take a water taxi. This cost us half our organs basically, but we had no other option (if we wanted to leave that day).
Our original plan, though, was to take the South Sea Cruise (resort connection).
When we finally made it to the resort, after a very bumpy ride, we encountered another problem: the hotel had in their system that our reservation was for next year and not this year!! But this somehow played in our favor, as for the first 3 nights they gave us the Beachfront Bure (luxury) instead of the (still beautiful) bungalow we had reserved. The reason behind this was that our bungalow was still occupied by other guests (again, since in their system they had our booking for next year). So we spent 3 days in the luxury bure and the last 3 in the room (bungalow) we had originally booked and paid for.
Day 1
🛬Flight to Fiji (Nadi), we landed in the early morning (10am).
🌴Wailoaloa Beach
🍎Nadi market & taste the local food
🛕Sri Siva Subramaniya Temple
Day 2
🛥Port Danarau to take a day cruise to go scuba diving
Day 3
🚌Day trip to a Fijian Village (Jewel of Fiji), which included transport and food.
We loved this trip! We not only got to experience how the beautiful people of Fiji live their day-to-day life, but we also got to ride bili bilis through the Navua River and the 'Magic Waterfall'.
Day 4
🌊Boat transfer from Nadi to Yasawa Island.
Day 5 to 8
We mainly did all the activities offered in the resort during these days and ate all the yummy food.
The good thing about Fijian resorts is that they have everything planned for you!
At our resort, each day there was a planned activity, either scuba diving, a hike, dance lessons, Kava ceremonies, etc! We took full advantage of these activities.
Day 9
🛥Boat transfer back to Nadi (South Sea Cruises).
Day 10
🛬Flight back to Melbourne.
